The Impact Goal

Singapore and Pakistan-based sign-language interpretation services company, DeafTawk joined Business Call to Action in December 2020 and made a commitment to train and provide more than 10,000 jobs to sign-language interpreters and businesses and have more than 500,000 users on its sign-language interpretation platform by 2025.

The Market Gap

According to WHO, there are 9 million people who are a part of the deaf community in Pakistan out of the total of 466 million people globally. A major challenge in Pakistan has been the limited availability of sign language interpreters due to which many deaf individuals are unable to access quality interpretation services. Another limitation for the deaf community has businesses not offering services nor including them as consumers who can be a part of their target market.

The Business Solution

DeafTawk’s vision is to eradicate the hurdles in communication that the deaf community experiences. With the assistance of its online sign-language platform and trained interpreters, DeafTawk provides low-cost interpretation services for job interviews, education, and audio and video interpretation for films and music. Through access to quality sign-language interpretation services, deaf users have improved opportunities for quality education, healthcare, and employment. DeafTawk’s long-term goal is to scale up and replicate its solution to other Asian and European countries.
