The Impact Goal

Brand Solutions joined Business Call to Action in December 2020 and made a commitment to increase the productivity of the low-income suppliers in its value chain by 10% by producing 82.500 eco-bags per month by 2024. It also aims to benefit over 100 women in the city of Bogota and its peripheries by increasing the number of low-income women involved as suppliers in its value chain by 80% by 2024.

The Market Gap

In Colombia, wholesale chains, supermarkets, and the retail sector are some of the biggest contributors of single-use plastic. These chains have the potential to offer ecological and reusable packaging solutions at their check-out stations and raise awareness among their customers and employees about sustainable consumption.

The Business Solution

Brand Solutions aims to involve women as their producers and suppliers through the establishment of contracts with women entrepreneurs to produce ecological bags made with organic materials. Due to these contracts, all the women involved have access to national health insurance, pension fund, and have been integrated into Colombia’s labor market. Brand Solutions give them the possibility to have permanent income above the legal minimum wage while working from home and provides technical assistance that increases their productivity.

To date, Brand Solutions has managed to reduce more than 274 million single-use plastic bags and 2.2 tons of advertising banners that were not sent to the landfills by making about 51,000 products with its ecological material.
