Promoting Increased Trade with Agricultural Producers
In 2008, ASDA committed to source an extra £30 million ($45.8 million) worth of fresh produce from Africa by 2013. The initiative will create more jobs and opportunities for farmers and trading partners in South Africa, Kenya, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, Ghana and Burkina Faso. By December 2009, ASDA increased its Kenyan flower sourcing by 20 percent in value terms.
